R.I.P. Scary

Scary passed away from his insulinoma on June 23rd, 2008. It was a stressful last few days as we nurtured him around the clock. He finally lost the ability to walk and standing on his own was a great challenge. Never once did he show any signs of pain and laid peacefully in our arms as we stroked his fur and spoke softly to him; all the while looking up into our eyes as if to say, "It's ok mom and dad, I love you and I'll be ok."
On his last night, he lost bowel control and refused any of our attempts to feed him. We decided not to force the issue and let him have a peaceful, stress-free last night. In the morning we were going to the vet to have him put to "sleep". Scary had other plans. He passed on his own hours after these pictures were taken and spared us the sadness of having to make that horrible decision.

We love you Scary and miss you terribly. Life's not the same with you gone. No more "Duck Soup" rituals and no more holding you closely in our arms. During your short stay with us you quickly became our favorite fuzzy. You were all anyone could have wanted in a ferret and your unconditional love shone brightly from your eyes whenever we neared your cage. Rest peacefully little buddy. Your pain and suffering is gone now. Go play over the rainbow bridge with your new friends and family and think of us from time to time as we will always be thinking of you.

We'll miss you cutie. You were my favorite and now you're gone. We'll miss feeding you your "Duck Soup".

Scary's last night was so sad. He fought hard but his frail body couldn't keep up the fight.

Sparing us the pain of making that heart breaking decision, he passed on his own a few hours later.
