One of our technicians begins to plate the sink after many hours of hand polishing at our shop in Queens.

	*The lamp has retained its beauty and now it will STAY that way since gold does not tarnish like brass does.*
Plating this lamp assembly was FULL of surprises! Originally given to us as an "UNFINISHED, BRASS LAMP". It turned out to only be brass PLATED and finished in a THICK THICK THICK clear coat. Interestingly enough, there were still patches not covered with clear that tarnished as is usual with brass so at a glance, the clear coat went unnoticed. There were stubborn solder filled pits and joints in addition to bare copper and other bare nickel areas that all needed special attention as they do not plate the same way as brass, . We had to deal with FOUR metals and a tough multi layer clear in ONE plating job! Brass, Copper, Nickel and the Lead solder. Luckily the customer is a sweetheart and gave us the extra time we needed to do the job right. AND... Just a note for those of you outside our area, he is a New Yorker. ..........Who said we're ALL bad huh??? Also, between the stains, the VARIOUS coatings and faux-antiquing finish, this lamp took no less than THREE different types of stripper in THREE separate processes to finally "come clean" prior to polishing and plating. When it was all over it was time to turn around and do it all again...... Our customer has TWO of these! This was definitely one for the "School of Hard Knocks' " library!
